nut free one minute slice

I have had many requests for a nut free version of our ever popular One Minute Slice.

Here is how we do it.

 Nut Free One Minute Slice

  • 6 tablespoons honey*
  • 4 tablespoons hulled tahini
  • 4 tablespoons coconut oil (soft or liquid)
  • 3 tablespoons cacao or cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon concentrated natural vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • Place all of the ingredients into a medium sized bowl and mix until well combined and looking chocolately and delicious.
  1. Pour the mixture into a silicon loaf pan.
  2. Place in the fridge to set.
  3. I like this best when it is left overnight and it seems to get better with each passing day.
  4. *Some friends who do not enjoy hulled tahini do not like this slice. They do, however, love the traditional One Minute Slice. If you do not like hulled tahini I would suggest moving onto another recipe or altering the quantities listed above to suit your tastes.
  5. Enjoy.

*you can use rice malt syrup if you prefer

This is delicious!! Absolute sinch to whip up and the flavour infusion is divine! Only used half the amount of sweetener suggested here and still found it incredible 🙂 Thumbs up!

Hi Bianca, I was just wondering what the difference between hulled and un-hulled tahini is? I have a jar of un-hulled tahini in the cupboard, could I use it for this slice? Thanks 🙂

You can use it but to be honest I don’t like it all that much. The flavour is much stronger than the hulled. I hope this helps.

OK, Thanks. I guess I’ll go get some hulled then 🙂

Bianca, I made this slice tonight and it tastes exactly like Nougat Honey Logs! I had some raw pistachios in the fridge so threw these in as well. So yum

Hi Bianca would this travel well? My daughter is nearly 10 months YIKES and I need a cake for her 10 month birthday but I will be in sleep school with her at that time for the week (naughty baby).. I would HATE to break my tradition but I am wondering if this type of slice would melt or travel well? I would probably use cacao butter instead of coconut oil as it might firm things up a bit.

This one wont travel well as it is, it would melt. But it could very possibly work with the cacao butter as long as it isn’t to hot.
I am sorry to hear of your sleepless nights, it makes everything so hard!!! I do not know how you manage to cook and run your page without sleep, well done! I hope you find the school very helpful.

Can’t tell you if this gets any better with age…because it was all gone in one sitting (between five of us!)
Thanks for the recipe 🙂

Hi Biana, i love your recipes and thank you for sharing. I have made this and love it, but was wondering if you can make it using a sugar substitute like stevia?

Hi Biana, could coconut butter replace nut butters? My daughter is allergic to all nuts & seeds. Thinking rice crisps (gluten free rice bubbles) or coconut (dessicated or shredded) could replace nut pieces from your original recipe perhaps? I have to constantly think of alternatives outside the square. What do you think?
