can you swap the peanut butter for anything, and omg looks so yummy
Almond butter?
Yes you can use almond butter and I also have a nut free version I will post soon. Enjoy.
OMG this looks amazing. Cant wait to try.
Thank you. I hope you enjoy it.
I have a son who can only have almonds or walnuts. Could I use almond butter ( as already suggested) and then almonds or walnuts crushed up?
Absolutely. I hope you enjoy it. x
Can I use butter instead of coconut oil? I don’t seem to agree with coconut products very well…
I haven’t tried that sorry Renee, if you test it out I would love to hear how it goes.
omg…..just made this, how simple, how divine, so fudgey and yummo, I just used raw mixed nuts, cut them up a bit….this totally satisfies all my fudgey, chocolate cravings…thank you……..
Thank YOU!!! I really appreciate the feedback. It is lovely of you to take the time to write. I am glad you have enjoyed it. x
How do you do it EVERY time?! WOW! AMAZING and thank you again for sharing :>
Thank YOU for making me laugh. I am glad you like my simple little recipes. xxx
This is delicious. My son said it is like a Reece Peanut Butter Chocolate cup thing. It is so moorish I keep wanting to eat it. Used Hazelnuts instead of cashews, as I wanted to use them. Thanks for a great recipe!
I sprinkled coconut on top. Tastes just like Summer Roll! Yum, thanks π
Oh my goodness!! My 3 year old and I made this this morning for his birthday (today!!) and it was a huge hit! We used almond butter instead of peanut butter, and it is divine. Thank you π
[…] I have had many requests for a nut free version of our ever popular One Minute Slice. […]
I absolutely love this recipe at the moment! I have also tried it using cashew butter and carob instead of the cocoa & works really well! My kids love it. I can’t wait to try your other recipes
Fabulous! Thank you. I hope you find many more recipes that you enjoy. x
Reading your blog makes me really look forward to when I have kids of my own one day.
That is lovely. Thank you. They are hard work but certainly worth it <3

The sacred grounds site has been deleted along with the healthy chocolate slice recipe. Can you please share your version of the recipe.
Bianca just discovered your site and love it, told my friends to jump on board. Your stories are heartfelt and recipes delicious, killer combination. The one minute slice is wonderful but mine wouldn’t set, I placed in freezer and then worked. It’s not a travel friendly dish, is there anything similar that holds well at room temp? Thank you
Hi Selina, thank you!! Yes this one is not stable at room temp. I would take travel with something like the baked brownie, peanut butter bars, jaffa bars, most of the balls, the muesli bars and the cakes. I hope this helps! I would love to hear how you go with anything else that you try. Thanks again for your feedback and support. Bianca
I noticed that your recipes don’t always say how much it’ll yield.. How many slices does this recipe yield?
Maybe around 16 pieces? I make it in a loaf tin and it only stands a couple of centimetres high if that helps at all
I made a half & half slice with the nut slice at the bottom & nut free recipe on the top, I also used my 8cm x 28cm slice tin instead of loaf tin, it was amazing! It was even better the next day(Day 3 of being in back of fridge). Thank you for this recipe!!
Thank YOU!! What a great idea! I am glad you enjoyed it. I agree that it gets better each day. I just added a roasted almond slice to the one minute slice collection, if you get a chance to try it out I would love to hear what you think. x
My partner usually does not like peanut butter, or nuts in general, but adores this. And the toddler would eat it for brekkie if I let him. Had to use raw almonds instead because out of cashews. Delish – I’m going to make a double batch next time and freeze half.
That is great to hear!! Thank you so much. I am glad it has been enjoyed. xx
Making it right now. I used rice malt syrup and will let you know how it goes.
Thank you. I hope you enjoyed it.
I recently made this slice… Very simple and delicious!! I use 1/4 cup crushed peanuts and 1/4 cup slivered almonds (I was out of cashews). It turned out beautifully!! Thanks for another wonderful recipe!!
That is great to hear, thank you. I am glad you enjoyed it. x

Looks yum though I dont know what school in Australia would allow that in the lunch box, one word, NUTS
I am sorry Ange I think I have missed something, I can’t see where it is suggested you pack them for schools? Not only does the recipe contain nuts but it needs to be kept in the fridge. Sorry if there has been any confusion.
Yum… Must say our primary school isn’t nut free, thank goodness. Definitely going to make this
Hi Bianca, the email that had a link to your recipe listed it as a lunchbox treat
Ok, thank you. That wasn’t an email I had sent so I can’t really help that happening sorry. I hope you find some recipes that you enjoy.
Yum, this looks very tasty!
Thank YOU. I hope you enjoy it. x
Just made this & put in fridge – can’t wait till set – the batter tastes amazing! I did add a 1/4 cup coconut too, just because.
It sounds perfect!!! I hope you enjoy it. x
I made this tonight. I didn’t “pour” but was more a fudgy consistency. I also added a small amount of coconut so its absorbency may have affected it? Either way, it tastes delicious and I am waiting not so patiently for it to set.
Thank YOU. I hope you enjoyed it.x
Hello, I love the look of this recipe. Could I subsitute honey for maple syrup? I made the cocunut biscuits this morning they were an amazing texture ( crunchy on outside and squishy inside) but I don’t love the taste of honey so could I substitute maple syrup in this recipe too?
Thanks , I love your website !
I’m sure you could although I would use a tad less and make sure it’s a good quality organic one. Not or maple syrup is made equal π
You can but maple is thinner than honey, do you lie rice malt syrup? Or maybe even coconut syrup?
Thanks Bianca, I did make using maple and the result was amazing. Next time, I’m storing in the freezer as I put one slice in as a test and it was the best! I also made the coconut biscuits again using maple and they were delicious. Thank you . Love your recipes. I’m making the chocolate mud cake tomorrow.
Thank YOU!!! I really appreciate the feedback and I am rapt that you have enjoyed the recipe Be sure to let me know how you go with the mud cake. x
Just like chocolate! What a find ! I used almonds too, had no cashews. Perfect. Keeping it in the freezer in strictly portion controlled pieces.. π ha. Thank you
Fabulous!!! Thank YOU!!! I am glad you enjoyed it. x
Hello, Thanks so much for your wonderful recipe. I swapped the peanut butter for almond butter due to peanut allergy, yummmmmmy
Perfect!!! Thank YOU! I am glad you enjoyed it. x
How big should a portion be?
I am a hungry pregnant lady so perhaps not the person to ask π I think it would be around 12 pieces….you can even make 16 if you want them smaller.
I made this the other day but with almond butter and RMS then added extra salt and another tablespoon of coconut oil (tasted it before i let it set). might have put some coconut on top of one end to see what that would add to it. Its really yum and a nice texture. I made them into bite size peices so i got closer to 24-28 bits. Ive only just found your website and im looking forward to trying a few more. I havent decided how i feel about the use of dates yet so i’ll google some more. seems like there is 3-5 teaspoons of sugar per date. So i guess you just have to watch the portion sizes too…..?
Hi Beck, thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it! If you would like a list of our date free recipes simply send me a PM and I will pass that on to you. I think it is personal choice. We find dates work well for us but I completely understand that they are not for everyone. I hope you find some more recipes that you enjoy. x
I have just made this and without even tasting I Know it is going to be good… It smell’s Amazing..
Bianca, I loved what you said about how responsive you are to your young son. I was like that throughout the time my son was growing up. He is now 31yrs old & an intelligent, happy, mature man. We share healthy food information & I just made him his 2nd gluten-free birthday cake. Our relationship is still close & loving. He brings the greatest joy, & such a wonderful texture, to my life. Keep up your good mothering & you will be rewarded ten times over!
By the way, your recipe also sounds delightful!
Oh Suzanne I hope my children grow up just like your son and that we share a similar relationship. It is a bit of a worry of mine. There seems to be so much to protect your children against these days, it can be frightening. I really appreciate you writing. I hope you enjoy the recipe. Bianca x
Hi Bianca,
I love the look of this recipe but unfortunately cannot eat peanuts or almonds. Could I use hazelnut spread to get a similar consistency?
Thank you in advance! Love each and every one of your recipes!
Love jodie x
Thank YOU so much Jodie! I really appreciate the feedback and I am rapt to hear that you are enjoying the recipes.
I think hazelnut spread would be divine!! You could also try the nut free version. I hope this helps. x
Looks fabulous!! Could I use Sunbutter in place of the PB? I don’t see why not but wanted to ask first before using all the ingredients in case it doesnt work π Thanks!!!
I think that would be fine!! We also have a nut free version which you might like. I hope this helps.
This recipe is fabulous and we do it weekly, we now adjust it to whatever we have in the pantry. Its great with some coconut and goji berries. Thankyou so much for this one!!
Perfect!!! Thank YOU! I am glad you like it. x
Just made this, looking forward to lunch tomorrow! Am hoping this is a good substitute of chocolate for a diabetic. Will see what the prick results say over the next few days.
I hope it works well for you and that you enjoy it. x
This sounds amazing. How many calories would be in 1 serving
I wouldnt bother counting them. The calories in these will work in your favor!!
I have no idea sorry Dani. x
I worked it out on my fitness pal based on 10 servings and got 130 cals per serve. It was more than I thought but figure it’s healthier calories than having chocolate, and no added sugar.
Hi Bianca, thank you for your amazing recipes, and heart warming posts, they often bring tears to my eyes being a Mum myself. This is our absolute favourite!!! Highly recommend everyone try this!! Much love & happiness to you and your family x
Thank YOU so much for your lovely feedback Sherie, I really appreciate it and I am glad you are enjoying my little space. Be sure to keep me posted on how you are going with the recipes. x

Another winner, just love the combination of peanut butter, coconut and chocolate! Thanks Bianca π
Thank YOU. I am glad you enjoyed it. x
Yum! I used almonds instead of cashews and it was great! Thanks for your awesome recipes!
Thank YOU for your invaluable support and feedback! x
Hi I was wondering if stevia would work as a replacement for honey in your recipes? Thanks. π
I am sorry I have not used stevia so I am not much help with this one.
Oh my gosh Bianca!! I made this last night and seriously this is DELICIOUS!!!! Even my fiance said it tasted like “real chocolate”, he hates my fake chocolate treats as he said they taste like fruit but not this!! It is dangerous as I can’t stop eating it!! I used cacao butter instead of coconut oil and 2 x TBS maple syrup! Yummmmooo!!! So easy, thank you, thank you, thank you xx
Perfect!!!!! Thank YOU. xxxx
Yum, one of my favourites! It reminds of picnic bars in Australia but without all that sugar & too much sweetness.
Thank YOU!!! I am glad you enjoyed the recipe, I really appreciate the feedback. Have you tried our Picnic recipe?
This slice is super easy and so so delicious! I’ve made it twice with almonds instead of cashews which has worked perfectly. Thank you π
Thank YOU!!! xxx
I love looking through all your recipes, but I have yet to try one as I am severely intolerant to honey π Is there anything else that I could use as a natural/healthy replacement? Thanks
A-M-A-ZING.!!!!
I used almond butter as our house is a peanut free zone, but OMG it hit the spot for my sweet craving and the kids loved it too!!!
Thank you so much for your yummy recipes
Thank YOU!!!! I really appreciate the feedback and I am glad you enjoyed the recipe. Be sure to let me know how you go with anything else that you try. x
I can’t wait to make this slice… But just have a quick question – I have some organic raw cacao nips, can I use these as they are or should I blend/crush first? Thanks ?
This slice is amazing!!! I have quit sugar so I make it with rice malt syrup instead of honey. I also made a version where I ommited the cashews and added som peppermint extract. DELICIOUS!!
Thank you Bianca. With your recipes I can quit sugar but still enjoy healthy sweets. Win win!
Peppermint! Great idea!
L O V E this slice!
Make it at least once a week!
That is great to hear Amy, thank YOU!!
This slice is AWESOME!!! my mum is always nagging me t make it again:) haha
Thanks for all of your beautiful recipes.
Wholefood Simply Real Food Recipes book
This is absolutely delicious! I used 3tbsp almond butter and 3tbsp tahini instead of the peanut butter as I’m allergic and its DEVINE! It’s almost a Reece’s pieces peanut butter cup (my favourite) without the allergic reaction haha. Thanks so much π
Now, to not eat it in one hit….
Thank YOU!! I really appreciate the feedback and I am glad you enjoyed it! Be sure to let me know how you go with anything else that you try. xxx
Is this slice vegan? Looking forward to making it.
If you sub the honey it is. I hope you enjoy it. xx
I just made this and it is not runny at all! Looked nothing like yours in your video…Did you heat your peanut butter before using it? Mine is thick and i had to spoon it out of the bowl and smear it in the tin π Tastes lush on the spoon but just not the consistency yours is. I am in Aus and used the same ingredients….
I am in Aus too. I think it would just be because its a different time of year. You can gently heat the ingredients and than mix and pour. I hope this helps. x
This recipe is a weekly occurrence in our house – thank you!! We’ve got a Paleo loving vegetarian 16 year old and at least I know she’s getting some good oils and proteins with these.
Thank YOU! I really appreciate the feedback and I am glad the recipe is being enjoyed. I would love to hear how you go with anything else that you try. Thanks again, Bianca x
Thank you again for a great recipe.
Utterly relish π
[…] One Minute Slice […]
This is such a lovely recepie, I googled healthy super fast slice and this turned up, I am so glad, I am now loving your site and plan on trying all your recepies, already made your Anzac biscuits, and mars bar slice and love them both as well! Thank you!!!
Love this slice. However today I blended it too long/fast in the food processor and it split. I’ve poured the oil away but it’s not a very good consistency now. Any idea what I can use this for now? Thinking of turning it into some sort of baked goods
6 tablespoons peanut butter*
WOW that’s heavy.
What could i use instead of coconut oil? Really dont like the taste and gind sll vegsn desserts have it. Is cacao butter an option? Ta
Has anyone tried making this with a keto liquid sweetener?
Had a friend making them for me and it was so delicious I asked for the recipie and am about to make them myself! Other recipies look amazing, canβt wait to try them! Thank you π
Ummmm why did I make this? It’s so delicious now I cant stop eating it π
This is amazing. Thank you so much for sharing. Our newborn has a dairy and soy intolerance, which means I have to omit these from my diet to continue breastfeeding. I was able to knock this up – one handed. Absolutely delicious
