Date, Coconut and Chocolate Free Bliss Balls

Some days are bright and light and full of joy and energy and laughter.

Some days are dark and hard and slow and painful.

It has taken me many years to realise that this is simply the ebb and flow of life.

It has taken me many years to realise that grasping onto one and doing all that I can to avoid the other is not the key to happiness.

It has taken me many years to realise that all things will pass. The happy, the hard. The simple, the sad. It all passes.

Attempting to hold onto one or push away the other is striving for the impossible.

But learning to embrace the rollercoaster of living peacefully, without judging the days as good or bad and by simply accepting what is and knowing it too will pass, that might just make the sun shine a little brighter and the heavy loads seem a little lighter.

Date, Coconut and Chocolate Free Bliss Balls

  • 1 cup dry roasted almonds*
  • 1 cup dry roasted cashews*
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon concentrated natural vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  1. Place the almonds and cashews into your processor and blend until the mixture resembles a coarse flour. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until the mixture resembles a fine, sticky crumb. Use your hands to press and shape the mixture into balls and place in the fridge to set.
  2. Eat and enjoy.

*roasted nuts are readily available from supermarkets and health food stores.

Bianca. Can I ask where the coconut is in this recipe? Do I add it after or to the dry roasted almonds and cashews? And how much?

Hi Bianca. Do you think these would work without the almonds? My baby is on a low amine diet, so that rules out every nut except cashews!! That’s why I was attracted to this recipe because she can’t have dates, tahini or coconut either!
Thank you for your amazing ingenuity

Thank YOU!! I think it is worth trying!! Just don’t over blend, but if you do you can add some oats. Or even try using 3/4 cashews and 1/4 oats as the sub? I hope this helps .
