Cookie Dough Ice Cream

cookie dough ice cream

The first, second and possibly even the third time I had banana based ice cream I really didn’t get it. To be honest, I didn’t like it that much at all.

But then I realised that I just needed to make it my own. That for me, it needed to be more than bananas and a blender.

These days I am constantly mixing up the flavours and nice cream, as it is commonly known, ranks high on my list of favourite things.

The Cookie Dough Ice Cream that I am sharing with you today is loved at our place, not just because it is one crazy level of delicious, but because it is super quick and easy and it takes nice cream to a whole new level.

If you have never tried banana based ice creams or never been a fan of them, this recipe is well worth whipping up. Alternatively, if you are as fond of them as I am I would love you to try this one out and let me know where it ranks on your list!

Either way, I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Cookie Dough Ice Cream

the cookie dough

  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey*
  • 1/2 cup almond meal

the chocolate chips

  • 40 grams dark chocolate, finely chopped

the ice cream

  • 3 frozen bananas, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons cacao or cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon honey*
  • dash of milk**
  1. Place the ingredients for the cookie dough into your processor and quickly blend to combine, spoon the mixture into a bowl and set aside.
  2. Place the ingredients for the ice cream into your processor and blend until the mixture resembles an ice cream consistency. Stir through the cookie dough and chocolate chips.
  3. Tuck in or place the ice cream into the freezer for a few hours. Enjoy!

*you can use rice malt syrup if you prefer.

**I typically use almond milk, coconut milk also works well.

A few of you have been asking about raw honey. Raw honey is available from The Source Bulk Foods, we have had it from there a few times now and it is delicious! If you cannot get into one of their amazing stores you can also buy the honey (and just about everything else!) online.

I’m so sorry but I accidentally pressed the rating button without realising it and decreased the rating in this recipe! I love your recipes and whilst i haven’t tried this one, I’m sure it will taste amazing!

    • Hi Jane, no worries. Thank you for letting me know. If you want to whip it up and score it go right ahead! That might balance it out (assuming you like it as much ass we do). Great to hear that you are enjoying the recipes. I would love to hear how you go with anything that you try. x

    • I don’t sorry, the one in the image is a gluten free one that I purchased. x

Oh I was so excited when I saw this ice cream, then sadly I read “peanut butter” do you have an alternative to the peanut butter?

    • Lisa Andrews

you can always sub it for almond butter, cashew butter or sunflower seed butter, i’m sure it will change the taste a little but with all recipes they are fairly interchangeable.

      • PaulandJo Lane

I will absolutely try those suggestions. Thank you so much

      • Thanks Lisa x

    • Absolulty! Any nut butter will work, does this help?

  • Cath

Hi – just wondering – we have allergies to Cashew nuts in our house. What would be a good alternative to the Cashew meal?

    • Almond meal also works. I hope you enjoy it. x

Just made this for a Saturday night treat, wow it is delicious! I used cashew butter instead of peanut butter and it is divine! Even my beer-drinking, junk-food eating, tradie hubby thought it tasted great. Another win for me in my quest to turn him into a “wholefoodie” haha.

    • Perfect!!!! Thank YOU so much!!!! I really appreciate the feedback and I hope you find some more recipes that work well for you! Be sure to let me know. B x

Hi, your recipes that have peanut butter as an ingredient, do you make your own or use store bought? Sorry if this question has been asked before.

    • Hi Anna, no need to be sorry. I buy the natural peanut butter / 100% peanuts or peanuts and salt. I hope this helps x

Made this just now and it was devoured by us all (2 adults and 4 kids). I doubled the recipe and used Almond Meal and no chocolate (didn’t have any!). So, so good. Yet another of your recipes to add to my list of favourites, thanks so much x

Just made this and it was delicious! I used hazelnut meal instead of almond meal, rice malt syrup instead of honey and left out the chocolate bits and milk.
