Chocolate Ice cream

Simple. Delicious. I hope you enjoy it.

Simply Chocolate Ice Cream

2 large frozen bananas, chopped

2 medjool dates, seeds removed

2 tablespoons cacao, cacoa, or carob

2 tablespoons coconut milk

Blend  until well combined. Enjoy!

I love the taste of this ice cream! I chopped my dates before putting in the processor but they didn’t breakdown. Should I have soaked them prior? Karen

Hi Karen, you can soak them if you want to, I guess it will depend on the speed of your processor. We still have a few chunky bites in ours but mostly it is smooth. I am glad you like it. Thanks, Bianca

When doing this sort of thing I process the dates first as the cold bananas turn them into rocks otherwise!! When I make chocolate icecream though I don’t bother with the dates – nice for a caramel flavour though.

Hi Bianca, have you churned this mixture in an ice cream maker before? I’m wondering if to do this. And is this recipe good to make a larger batch and keep for a little while in the freezer. Thanks

Hi Sarah, I don’t own an ice cream machine so I am not much help sorry. I find that if you want to store you are better off making it as a cake – such as this one but you could do all choc and having slices as it wont scoop like ice cream does once stored in the freezer. https://wholefoodsimply.com/ice-cream-cake/
